I had a look at the architecture of t he new AVRs recently. The programming interface changed, and now also allows for debugging. It is a one wire interface plus reset. Meaning I have to supply a new programming adapter. With boot loading capabilities. This is doable.

Udo, I live in Switzerland. Don't worry. The delivery date from microchip direct for the 644 is august, next year. If necessary, I have a postal address in Germany.
