English postings are so much easier to read.
That little demo board you posted about looks awesome except why use such a small processor. It effectively makes it useless. :(

Hello Neil,

the processor is not for the user! it does just one thing: after powering up the board it takes control of the SPI-bus and initializes the W5500 with a unique MAC address (so the programmer does not have to pay for one or "reuse" an existing) and a predefined IP-Address. Then it returns the control of the SPI bus back to the developer and his BIG processor. It is meant to reduce effort and to provide a "ready to use" board. The same principle is on the Wiz550io board (there a tiny PIC is doing the same job).

Basically, the uniqe MAC is the major advantage I see.

That is the reason why I should use the Wiz550IO, you have to buy a valid MAC address and use in its products. These boards, this expense is the purchase of a bulk or singles MAC address and the single flash with sticker done.

Hey Neil,

almost sounds too good to be true! Have you tried that? Do the MAC's come in printed form too or do you have to read out the I2C Chip?

That would solve some problems!

To all: Here is the answer from DigiKey: They say: nothing preprogrammed. So where now is the MAC? Did they miss the point?

I ask again: Has anyone tried this?
