Delphi2007 for Win32

Unfortunatelly, even D2K7 is not well suited for WinCE development. I will stick with my old D7 for pure Windows projects. The only use of new Delphi for me is new version of Intraweb which is very nice and supports Ajax.

Since D8 came out I can not get used to new layout, especially component pallete which is M$ like and no more horizontal and compressed. I really hate that and I am not aware of any way to change this. :-(

Hello Avra,

I wouldn't ever expect Delphi to support CE platforms cause it's stuck to X86 architecture. For CE, X86 is only one among many possible processors (e.g. for POCKET PC among the predefined platforms). Personally, I didn't adavance beyond D7 for PC applications up to now.

Regards,

Frank

Take a look at http://dn.codegear.com/article/33066 and you will see that Delphi can build .NET Compact Framework applications. Also, .NET applications are processor independent and they are not tied to x86 platform so ARM (XScale) in PocketPC is not a problem.

It is an old article, but not much has been done since then. :-(

Sicher.

@Avra,
it is possible to revert the newer versions to the old style layout. Something with options| layout | embed designer unchecked. I'd have to look it up again if requested.

@Rene,
I have found that option to have old D7 window layout and I use it, but component palette was the problem at time of writing that post. I couldn't make it to look like in D7 and I hate new component M$ like layout. Finally, there is a solution for that problem too. Just use DDevExtensions IDE plugin and old component palette layout is back. :biggrin: :ja: :biggrin:
