AT AVR XPLAIN

Hi all,

today I saw, that Reichelt is offering an "AT AVR XPLAIN"-Board for just 37€. After reading [url= http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resou…oc8203.pdf ] Atmel XPlain Hardware user's guide [/url] I thought, maybe a good idea to get one for testing.. features like 8 MByte external Flash and 8 MB external SRAM sound promising..

However, can I program this board anyway with the AVRco?

Hello Michael,

of course you can. But I'm not sure about the external memory. Depends of memory type. SDRAM is not supported by AVRco.
Also note that the programming header is not conform to Atmel 6pin PDI.

Hi Rolf,

thank you for the answer. I was afraid, I would have to adapt the SD-RAM myself, but I think, that is worth while to do..

Is the Atmel 6 pin PDI only 'pin-swapped', i.e. I just have to cross over some wires to use the ISP3. Or cant I use my ISP3-USB due to general hardware incompatibility?
