Hi,
is it really a "44780" or a compatible one?
What is the cable length MCU-LCD?
Did you try slower refresh rates?

I find the display in google, display is Bolymin BC 2004B YPLEH with KS0066 controller, is this controller compatible with 44780? slower rate I tried and still angry :( For example, 10 min. works well and then go mad. It is connected to 10 cm long flat cable pc.

first try
LCDtype = 0070;
and
LCDtype = 0073;

10cm flat cable is OK.

or
maybe the power supply of the lcd is to weak.
Try to use additional thick cables and 10uF capaticors near the lcd power pins.
I am sure the AVRco lcd driver works without problems ->
must be something else!
