I know that a slave driver is already provided, but is an AVRco driver for Modbus master available or in the works ?

AVRco driver for Modbus master is not available and as far as I know no one is working on it. I have the knowledge but I didn't need it my self and there was no one to sponsor it yet.

Too bad. :( But thanks for getting back to me, guys. I'm able to locate at least one C library for this. It doesn't look too difficult, and if I weren't on a short deadline, I'd make an AVRco library, using that code as a reference. Alas, sans extra time I'll have to make do with C.

If all you are looking for is pascal MODBUS master code, then take a look at Delphi master applications which do not use any library, and instead use direct MODBUS ASCII serial commands in a very simplistic easy to use way. They just read some number of bits or words from a register storage in MODBUS client. MODBUS RTU would be a little different but not that much harder. Creating a full featured library is quite different story...

Thanks, Avra. I'll give it a look.
