XMega chips and USB (Serial) and other questions

Hi All,
I have not used a XMega before and looking to buy some ATXMEGA32A4U and ATXMEGA128A4U from Digikey. I was also looking to buy some adapter boards ie 44TQFP to 40pin DIP http://www.digikey.com.au/scri…5992789156

Questions-
1. With the Avrco compiler, can these chips appear as com ports on a windows PC?
Or is the USB interface a proprietary interface that I need Delphi or similar to communicate with the Xmega?

2. I have a ISP-3 that has been upgraded for the Xmega's. With this programmer, does Avrco support the PDI interface for programming and debugging?

3. Atmel have a DFU bootloader, does Avrco support this style of programming?

Thanks,
Neil.

Hello Neil,

1. the AVRco USB-CDC driver builds a standard COM port for the PC. Nothing else needed.
2. Your ISP3 supports PDI for XMegas. JTAG for XMegas is not supported.
3. DFU bootloader is not supported.
